American Eagle on Sydney Sweeney Jeans Ad Controversy

American Eagle speaks out.

The clothing company – which aroused controversy with its advertising campaign with the lead role Sydney Sweeney—Has Adraded the backlash from critics who claimed that the company promoted eugenics by using a play on jeans/genes.

“‘Sydney Sweeney has big jeans’ is and was always about jeans,” American Eagle wrote in a Instagram Statement August. “Her jeans. Her story. We continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Big jeans look good on everyone.”

And last month even a staff in the White House talked about the conversations about the advertisement, with communications director Steven Cheung Writing on July 29, “Cancel Culture Run Amok.”

For its part, Sydney has mostly avoided Crossfire, only shared a single post from the campaign to her Instagram network and otherwise published her typical content in her puppies and daily activities.

The ads, which were first released July 23, contained Sweeney, as did her German shepherd Sully Bear, in videos and photos of her that donated the brand’s denim that seemed very sexualized, with a video even seeing Someone other than you Star jokes when the camera panned down her body, “eyes up here.”
