“Nosferatu” (Craig Lathrop, “Evil” (Nathan Crowley) and “Conclave” (Suzie Davies) was the winner of period, fantasy and contemporary production of production at the 29th annual Art Director Guild Awards, held February 15 in Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown.
Winning for animation was also “The Wild Robot”After her Annie’s sweep and VES prices. On TV The site, “Shōgun”, “Squid Game”, “Fallout” and “The Penguin” were the winners for their production designers in their respective categories.
Lathrop for “Nosferatu” won in something of an upset about “The Brutalist’s” Judy Beckerwhich had been the prospective Oscar favorite to channel Oscar-nominated Adrien Brody’s visionary architect, László Tóth, in application of a brutalistic style to the architectural patterns of the middle of the century Pennsylvania with its bold forms and function of form of estesthetic.
Lathrop, who has worked with all director Robert Egger’s other films, got his first Oscar nomination to “Nosferatu.” Lathroph’s work leaned to architectural authenticity in the pre-Viktorian, Gothic style and recreates a German city from the 19th century and a 16th century Romanian castle.
Crowley has not yet won an Oscar, despite seven nominations and a prominent collaboration with Christopher Nolan (“Interstellar”), but may be the front runner for Oscar’s glory for his imaginative reinforcement of Oz.
Vermette, who previously won Oscar for “Dune”, tries a second victory by taking a deeper dive into Fremen and the Harkonnen cultures at Arrakis and Giedi Prime.
In addition, ADG Lisa Frazza (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), Barbara Mesney (“Argo”), Dan Sweetman (“Braveheart”) and J. Dennis Washington (“The Fugitive”) with lifetime performance Awards. Legendary production designer Carl Jules Weyl (“The Adventures of Robin Hood” and “Casablanca”) was introduced in the ADG Hall of Fame as part of the ceremony. 2025 Cinematic Imagery Award was awarded to the Oscar-nominated director and filmmaker Jason Reitman, whose work includes “Juno”, “Up in the Air” and “Saturday Night.”
