Materialists Coming in June, and if it was from any studio other than the A24, I wouldn’t be an eye on a romantic comedy with Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans. But again, if readers are looking at Best A24 movies Out there, this is not a studio known for making a regular movie. As such, I can’t help but be a little suspicious and wonder if there is a Weirder movie that hides under this trailer.
This Upcoming A24 movie Can only be a regular romantic comedy like Harkens back to the 2000s … or maybe it’s something completely different. I lean towards the latter, and if it turns out I am wrong, it is an amazing role and can be an amazing regular movie!
This movie looks too normal to be an A24 movie
When I look at the trailer for MaterialistsI am reminded of How to lose a guy in ten days or someone else Best Rome Coms I would watch with one Netflix subscription. I think the fact that the tone of the movie itself feels like something I would have seen 20 years ago started my spidey minds, but again, this is the A24 we are talking about.
Look at some of A24’s highest ranked moviesAnd they all fall into one of three categories. They cover a lot of niche subjects with a strong statement, are horror movies that will crawl you out, or are just esoteric and batheit crazy. I would not describe Materialists As one of it, and would even go so far as to say that it strikes me as a fairly ordinary romantic comedy with a nice role. If it ends up being something more I’m cool with it, but don’t feel this trailer like there’s something lurking under the surface?
Is it possible that this movie is something completely different from what trailers shows?
This is complete speculation, but what happens if Materialists do something similar what Long did with his trailers to keep a great secret? Listen, I have a tinfoil hat here when I make this bold accusation and mainly point to the production company’s Track Record behind. I honestly can’t put my finger on what exactly the rotation can be, but I can’t shake the feeling that this is more than just any normal romantic comedy.
If Materialists Is exactly what it is advertised, then Rom-Com fans will be happy. Dakota Johnson is a New York matchmaker who is torn between an old flame (Chris Evans) and her “perfect match” (Pedro Pascal). Which will she choose? Maybe twist is how the movie plays out? I say so much, I am fascinated enough that I should buy a ticket so that I can find out for myself!
Materialists Is in theaters on June 13, and if it ends up a wild twist, you heard this first! If not, get a healthy dose of it by looking at some of Best horror movies of A24.
