London himself was a colorful and amazing place, but I wanted to create a contrast between Hiskias and Alec’s color palette, ”Meschde told IndieWire. “For me it is really important that all the suit I create with my team expresses where the person comes from and what their ambitions are.”
The warmer bedding and cotton that Alec and Hez Sport initially distinguish them, and to track their clothing choices when Hez rises through the boxing ranks and gets a little more disposable income is an interesting exercise to see how comfortable each of them is with assimilating counter to stand out. “I wanted to express (Alecs) confidence in his clothes, his choice of colors. Periodic accuracy can be more or less important depending on the type of world a series wants to build. “Bridgerton” is a fantasy about rebellious colors and patterns that would make the actual aristocracy in Georgian times. Something like “Sandition” or Steven Knight’s own “Peaky Blinders” strives to be much more grounded. “A Thousand Blows” wants to create warehouses where we can see broad expectations of looks, and these allow all core characters, varying degrees, can be underestimated by bucking them or moving invisible by recording them.
“There is a nice balance between the reality of pictures, the photographs we have, paintings and drawings, but what do we take from it to make the show unique? To not only represent something from the past, but to tell the story we want to tell, or how? And what was really important was to emphasize the lively, energy from (the characters),” said Meschede. “The corset made Erin go that way because it is very difficult to go in a corset really fast, and she really got into it and exaggerated something.
