Some of the murderers in Rian Johnson’s “Poker Face” Feel regret – but not the latest. In an exclusive clip shared with IndieWire from the coming season 2, section 6, “Sloppy Joseph”, Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) Faces with eight-year-old Stephanie Pearce (Eva Jade Halford)-which could not disagree more that it is lonely at the top.
The clip shows Stephanie, who confront Charlie in the bathroom, where Charlie asks her to rethink what she has done. “If you are having it, you won’t have many friends,” says Charlie, hoping to appeal to the child’s need to be liked.
But Stephanie doesn’t have to be liked. What she needs, it seems, is gold stars – but before she puts her ambitions in a clear way, she puts on some performance. She turns away from Charlie, apparently with shame while pretending to cry. “Maybe I say I don’t want friends because they are what I want most,” she cries. “And I act because I just want someone to like me.”
It may convince someone else – but Charlie is not like the other adults. “Bullshoot,” she replies (censor her usual automatic response in favor of a child -friendly alternative). Sure enough, Stephanie whips around with a satisfied smile. She breaks into the song and jumps out of sight and leaves a frightened Charlie to consider what this child comes and will not do to stay on top. It is obvious that the usual methods of reasoning do not work on Stephanie, so Charlie has to find a different way of outlining this dangerous child (But seriously, did she murde someone?).
