A24’s log line for “Sorry, Baby” is curious about details – “Something bad happened to Agnes. But life continues … For everyone around her, at least” – but IndieWire saw the movie on Sundance and can confirm that it takes a hard and unusual cinematic look at a woman rolling from a terrible meeting from her mentor. Victor, a comedian and social media star, makes a bold statement with his first film, both dark fun and gripping. She co -stars with Naomi Ackie and Lucas Hedges as Agnes, who has stayed in the New England Cottage Town where she finished the degree school, still to try to do it as a writer. A counterfeit meeting with her dissertation adviser (Louis Cancelmi) has left her distortion for answers, as the film maps her delayed age against the age in the light of a terrible event.
