Get a little! Peacock develops a follow -up series based on the 90s favorite ”Unclear“And Alicia Silverstone Is linked to the star in the series that represents his role as Cher Horowitz, IndieWire has learned.
The peacock show is only described as a follow-up show for the 1995 favorite film from the director and author Amy Heckerling (who will the EP series), and although there have been some rumors about the exact focus for the show that floats around, creative details are held under the cover now. The series is currently under development for Streamer.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage from “Gossip Girl” and “Nancy Drew” fame will write the series together “Freakier Friday” Write Jordan WeissAnd all three will produce the series. Schwartz and Savage produce through their false empire.
Silverstone also produces the series, as well as Heckerling and the film’s original producer Robert Lawrence. CBS Studios produces the show together with Universal Television.
Peacock originally tried to restart the franchise as a mystery show centered on Stacey Dash’s Dionne character as early as 2020 that never gathered. Silverstone did though Reprise its role for a Super Bowl ad already 2023.
“Clueless” this year celebrates the 30th anniversary and will play as part of a Fathom Entertainment Summer screening in theaters. The original earned $ 56.6 million all over the world through Paramount Pictures and has become a culthit and one of Quintessential 90’s films. In addition to Silverstone and Dash, “Clueless”, Paul Rudd, the late actress Brittany Murphy, Donald Faison, Elisa Donovan, Breckin Meyer, Dan Hedaya and Wallace Shawn played. The film is loosely based on the Jane Austen novel “Emma” and follows a rich Beverly Hill’s teenager that fashion himself a matchmaker.
“Clueless” was a Breakout role for Silverstone that netted her part in “Batman & Robin.” She will have an indie trip when she shows up in Yorgos Lanthimo’s next movie “Bugonia” opposite Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone, as well as Justin Kelly thriller “Pretty Thing.” She last played in “Y2K” from A24 and director Kyle Mooney.
