Hollywood turns out for a new Oscar category.
The Board of Governors at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which assigns Annual Academy AwardsApril 10 announced that a new trophy that celebrates performance in Stuntdesign will be distributed to action stub teams starting with the organization’s 100th ceremony in 2028.
“Since the early days of cinema, Stuntdesign has been an integral part of filmmaking,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy president Janet said in the joint statement. “We are proud to honor the innovative work for these technical and creative artists, and we congratulate them for their commitment and commitment to achieve this important occasion.”
The stunt category is the latest category contribution to Oscars since last year’s performance in Casting, which will award its first prize at next year’s event. The Academy announced that the rights and voting rules will be revealed in 2027.
Following Golden News, many Stunt professional Academy’s recognition of their work celebrated, including David Leitchwho began his Hollywood career as a stunt artist before becoming a director and producer on films including Autumn guy and John Wick. (In fact, he and his colleague Stuntman Chris O’Hara Played an important role in creating the new category by making multiple presentations to the board before its approval.)
