After handling whales and Black swans and two of each creature on Noah’s Ark, Darren Aronofsky goes back to the animal kingdom for his next film.
Aronofsky circles a new adaptation of Stephen King’s “Cujo”, horror story about a friendly St. Bernard -Dog who turns murderers and releases devastation to a small town. The project is under development at NetflixAnd according to ThrAs first reported the news, the project could be on the fast track after the news on an adaptation was reported just last week.
Aronofsky would direct the film if a business is materialized, but no author is attached. Roy Lee – who has most recently produced “companions” but also stands behind adaptations of other king projects such as “Salem’s Lot”, “IT” films and Francis Lawrence’s upcoming “The Long Walk” – is linked to producing.
“Cujo” was a King novel from 1981 and shortly thereafter turned into a 1983 film according to directed by Lewis Teague. The film collected $ 21 million for Warner Bros.
Next for Aronofsky is “caught stealing”, which is in postal production and is a crime thriller based on books by Charlie Huston about a burnt-out former baseball player that gets stuck in a world of underground crime in New York City 1990s. The movie Stars Austin Butler and released by Sony.
Back in 2023 Aronofsky was set to direct a Biopics on Elon Musk for A24which is based on a biography of Walter Isaacson, who also wrote the biography of Steve Jobs as Danny Boyle later turned into his film 2015 with Michael Fassbender 2015. He also directed a movie for The sphere in Las Vegas called “Postcards from Earth.” His last story movie was “The Whale” 2022, also for A24 and who won an Oscar for Brendan Fraser.
