The scariest puppet this side of “Saw” franchiseJenny Pen is an early Frontunner in the race for the 2025 Favorite new horror icon. She is the reason for the season and the inspiration behind this month’s indieview after dark set -up – Two Midnight movies (And a mupp!) That influenced “The rule of Jenny Pen. “
A love work from filmmaker James Ashcroft, Marionetteer/Designer Paul Lewis and star actor John Lithgow, the titular props on a lot of sources. The film is based on a story by Owen Marshall, chosen by Ashcroft and his co -author Eli Kent more than a decade ago, and it is located in a surprisingly treacherous nursing home in New Zealand. The film pass from IFC Films and Shudder – streaming exclusively on the horror platform and AMC+ on March 28 – looks Ashcroft Commingle the Styling of David Lynch with the technical chops for his puppet, Fresh Off ”M3gan. ”
“I liked the idea of not being able to read too much to Jenny,” Ashcroft told IndieWire, reflecting on her villain perverse playfulness and the worrying nature of the duality she achieved with Lithgow. “It would have been a real mistake to try to intentionally create a scary doll.”
You can read all about doing Jenny Pen in our interview with James Ashcroft and his puppet/designer, Paul Lewis. We were so inspired by our chat with Lewis We will visit several of the titles he mentioned, from a psychological horror from 1978 Anthony Hopkins To the best of the muppet that made Lewis want to complicate with blanket in the first place. These three choices may not have left the most obvious brand on “Jenny Pen”, but the lessons they learned really helped her.
