February 10: Vince Neils Learjet involved in fatal collision
A person was killed when one Learjet 35A is owned by Mötley Crüe front Vince Neil collided with a parked plane (later identified as a Gulfstream G-200) as it turned off the track while trying to land at Arizonas Scottsdale Airport at 14:39 local time, according to a statement from Nashville-based lawyer Worrick Robinson IV.
Neil was not on board at that time.
His lawyer called it “a rapidly developing situation” during “ongoing investigation”, and adds, “Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical support for all first respondents to help today.”
There were four on board Learjet and FAA later confirmed that the pilot had died, while the co-pilot and a passenger were seriously injured.
Per WMTV 15 newsA preliminary report released on March 3 by NTSB stated that monitoring and mobile phone video films from the event showed that the rear left landing equipment of the jet in a “skewed” position as it approached the track in Scottsdale.
The report also noted that the same air crew had reported a question of landing in Mcalester, Okla., June 20, 2024.
The pilot hired a mechanic who performed maintenance, the report detailed and further maintenance was carried out on the plane in December. A mechanic who served the landing equipment noted that “nothing seemed unusual,” the report, but left landing equipment “took an excessive amount of fat.”
