“Emilia Pérez” won the best Film From the French 2025 César AwardsA big win for the Netflix movie before Oscars. Jacques Audiard’s film had earned 13 Oscar nominations but then fell out of the frontunner status.
The film also won both best director and best adapted script for Jacques Audiard, although Zoe Saldaña, who has dominated the price circle all year, lost in an upset against Hafsia Herzi for the movie “Borgo.” However, Saldaña was nominated together with Karla Sofía Gascón in the best actress category and not in the best actress.
Overall, “Emilia Pérez” took home seven Césars of 12 nominations, including best visual effects, best sounds, best original music and best film. “The bill of Monte Cristo“A new version of Dumas Revenge Tale, led all nominated by 14, and it won two.
While this year Césars was largely similar to Oscars, a few others won some awards that have a chance at Oscar Sunday, especially “Flödes” who won for best animated function. And in the best foreign film that had a field including “Anora”, “The Apprentice”, “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” and “The Substance”, the winner was a movie that premiered at Cannes 2023 and won an Oscar 2024, Jonathan Glazer’s “The Zone of Interest.”
