“Star Wars” fans need this. So bad.
Although “Skeleton Crew” was warmly received by much of the fan base, it has not been a completely healthy success for the Galaxy far, far away franchise at Disney+ then The first season of “Andor” 2022. (As much as we loved “Acolyten” and wish it had continuedwe really see its shortcomings too.)
Now ”Andor“Season 2 trailer is here and shows us the most comprehensive appearance still on the new sections, of which the first three drops April 22 at Disney+.
This writer says “Yippee!” Like Anakin Skywalker, because there is ever a lot of goodness here. First and foremost: Lots of connections to 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars” history, which introduced Diego LunaCassian Andor character. There are Forest Whitaker that Partisan leader saw Gerrera, Ben Mendelsohn Like Death Star Project Mastermind Orson Krennic and Alan Tudyks beloved Droid, K-2SO.
If this looks a lot like “Rogue One”, it is because “Andor” season 2 will use their 12 episodes to take us up to the events in that movie that starts in about four years from where the movie begins.
“One of the great tensions of making” Andor “is the scope of history and the number of characters we can meet – ordinary people, imperialist chief lords, passionate revolutionaries,” said the creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy in a statement. “They are real people who make epic decisions, all stare down issues with scary consequences. Cassian’s journey is the soul and backbone of our story, but it is the choir that makes the show. I am so excited for the audience to see where we go during season 2. ”
And characters that fans loved from the first season also return, including Kyle Soller as Imperial True Believer Syril Karn, Stellan Skarsgard as Rebel leader Luthen Rael, Denise Gough as the B-book’s imperialist intelligence manager Dedra Meero and Kathryn Hahn as Eedy as Eeddy mom (you remember her like the witches in “The Tragedy of Macbeth “and as a Saucy Madam in” Poor things “). Even back, Genevieve O’reilly is like Mon Mothma, the future leader for the uprising.
What is interesting about this trailer is its inclusion of the critics’ praise for the first season – it seems almost a silent recognition that “Star Wars” Spinoffs has not been very well received during a period of one’s professional critics (even less legion of Youtube -Fan commentators whose bilious reaction to something “Star Wars” is practically a given now). And as a tone set, the trailer Steve Earles 2004 has -song “The Revolution Starts Now.” All that is saying, this is not “Star Wars” you are used to, at least in recent years – but it has many of the best parts of “Star Wars” you love.
This nerd will make a piece of vacant speculation here: the grassland planet shown here? Investment that it is Dantooine, previously established as a prairie plane … and all rebel activity there during the events in this show would make it much more meaningful why Peter Cushing’s Grand Moff Tarkin thought it was likely that the rebel base could be there in “A New hope. “
Look at the trailer below. The 12 episodes of “Andor” Season 2 will drop in three episodes of payments over four weeks from April 22.
