‘Pet Shop Days’ Trailer: Olmo Schnabel’s directorial debut

The official synopsis reads: “In a desperate action, impulsive blacks flee Alejandro (Dario Yazbek Bernal) his home in Mexico. On the run from his unforgiving father, Alejandro is in New York City, where he meets Jack (Jack Irv), an employee of the College-Age Pet Store with similar parenting. Together, the two go into a whirlwind romance that sends them into the rabbit hole with drugs and ruin on Manhattan’s underground. When Alejandro’s past threatens to catch up with him, Jack is forced to choose between his family and a life on the go. ”

Willem Dafoe (who Played in Julian Schnabel’s Vincent van Gogh Biopic “at Eternity’s Gate”) and Emmanuelle Seigner plays Jack’s prosperous parents. The Ensemble role also includes Peter Sarsgaard, Maribel Verdú and Jordi Mollà also playing in the film.

The comparisons “After Hours” with the plot are no accident: Autheur Martin Scorsese is among the executive producers, as is Jeremy O. Harris and Michel Franco.

“Pet Shop Days” is the executive produced by Giovanni Corrado, Raffaella Viscardi, Moreno Zani, Malcom Pagani, Renato Ragosta, Livio Strazera, Theo Niechos, Aimone Ripa di Meana, PJ van Sandwijk, Peter Brant Jr., and Reka Posta.
