The voltage continues to be mounted between the Julian Markston and Olympia Lawrence I CBS’s “Matlock” – but to hear Skye P. Marshall Tell it, she and co -star Jason Ritter Have it easy.
“I had chemistry readings with five different actors for Julian,” Marshall told Indiewire. “And I was blown away by how Jason is such an incredibly active listener. If I were to change the tone or pace, he just went with me as a perfect wave. ”
In section 9, Olympia may have confirmed too truthful ex-husband that he had a deal with jury consultant Shae Banfield (Yael Groblas) when their marriage was on the rocks. They had only revived, but with both Julian and Olympia for partners at Jacobson & Moore, “Matlock” used their winter premiere to set up an ultimatum. When the Board chooses, anyone is not Promoted must leave the company.
“And boy, causes it quite the dilemma,” said Marshall. “It creates a new challenge between Julian and Olympia professionally and personally that will play during the rest of the season. To Is the new silk Turner. “

Drama writes itself. At the show, Julian’s Father Senior (Beau Bridges) is the head of their company and makes his son’s claim that partners may be cliche but strong. Still, Olympia’s formidable presence seems impossible for Jacobson & Moore to share – especially considering her growing band with the show names Matty Matlock (Kathy Bates). The real friendship between Marshall and Bates does wonders for their dynamics on the screen, and Marshall says she sees something similar to Ritter.
“Just as I could take parts of myself and place them in Olympia, I also see Jason in Julian,” she explained. “I saw it from the audition when I said (the line) to him,” Nepotism was not a factor in my hire. ‘I mean, how it here Him and how he delivered that scene. He has had to face challenges with being the son of (late actor) John Ritter and people who threw the “nepo” word on him before it was even one thing – when he just wanted to prove to himself that he was strong Actors who can deliver on their own credit. And he can absolutely. ”
When it comes to Olympia and Julian’s troubled romance, Marshall said that both she and Ritter are married to other actors help. Marshall met Make Edwin Hodge at another audition for CBS (The actress told indifire that story in the rest of our interview) and Ritter married The “Yellowjackets” star Melanie Lynskey 2020.

“Look at his wife – a powerful, incredibly strong, focused, kind, sweet, fantastic mom, but who will move the world with integrity and passion,” Marshall said. “I’m just obsessed with Melanie. Jason has that experience of being married to a powerful woman and I have seen him use it in a scene. “The actress once asked rides how he and Lynskey kept their relationship strong and said he gave advice to” always talk through everything. “
Marshall continued, “We both have that experience of being married to someone in the same industry as you and just trying to work us up on the steps and achieve all these goals and dreams that we had a long time before we met each other. Being able to play it with Jason has been a lot of fun. Sometimes I have to say more to Julian’s character than I can say to my own partner, but that is what makes this life so entertaining. ”
“Matlock” will be broadcast on CBS Thursdays at 21 o’clock and the next day streams at Paramount+.
