Makeup Veteran Lois Burwell departs from Film Academy Board of Governors


Lois Burwell, the Oscar-winning makeup artist for “Braveheart”, has resigned from the Board of Directors at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, with reference to personal reasons.

Her departure was announced in an e -mail message to the members of the makeup and the hairstyle at the Academy of the Subsisters Howard Berger and Linda Flowers. Emmy-winning “Westworld” makeup artist Gerald Quist, who was continuously to Burwell in the last board election, will serve the rest of the semester until the summer of 2027, according to the Academy’s statutes.

Dear makeup and hairstyle members,

We write to share that Lois Burwell has resigned from the Academy Board of Governors for personal reasons, immediately. We wish Lois the best and thank her sincerely for her commitment to our branch and her many years of service to the academy.

Per Academy’s statutes, if any vacancy would arise on the board due to departure from a governor before the end of the governor’s term of office, the vacant place will be filled to the end of the governor’s mandate of second place for that position for that position in it immediately the previous choice for that position. We are pleased to share Gerald Quist will serve as our new branch governor, immediately, and will earn the rest of the semester, which ends in the summer of 2027.
