David Lynch to WGA Screenwriting Achievement Award


David Lynch has been appointed the recipient of The Writers Guild of America Wests Laurel Award 2025 for screenwriting, the organization announced on Wednesday.

According to WGA, the late filmmaker behind “Eraserhead”, “The Elephant Man”, “Blue Velvet”, “Wild at heart”, “Mulholland Drive” and co -creator of “Twin Peaks” accepted the award at the end of 2024, “weeks before his Died January 16.

“Author director David Lynch’s uncompromising vision pushed the borders for filmmaking,” said WGAW-President Meredith Stiehm. “We are proud to honor him and his legacy.”

The prize will be awarded by Lynch’s often partner, actor Kyle Maclachlan, at the 77th annual WGA Awards on February 15.

The Laurel Award for screenplay performance is presented to members who have “advanced the literature on film and made outstanding contributions to the screenwriter’s profession.”
