LionsgateUpcoming movies will get a big streaming boost very soon. Amazon has reached a multi -year agreement with Lionsgate to make as many as 20 Lionsgate theater publishing available to American customers on Prime Video every year.
The deal will include Lionsgate’s entire theater slate for 2026, a package of films from 2025, and Amazon will also commit to licensing older Lionsgate library titles for streaming. The films will first land exclusively on Lionsgate’s own Starz flow platform immediately after its theater driving, and Prime Video will then have its own exclusive streaming windows shortly after that. A specific length for the window was not specified.
2026 Lionsgate slate includes “Now you see me 3” and Next “Hunger Games” movie “Sunrise on the reaping,” which comes out on November 20, 2026. Each of these titles will be available for streaming only on Prime Video through this agreement. In the case of older library titles for licensing, Amazon can choose and choose between “John Wick”, “Saw”, “Twilight”, “Divergent” and other franchises.
It is unclear which 2025 films will land on Amazon, but Lionsgate has Mark Wahlberg Thriller “Air risk” in theaters nowLike the “John Wick” Spinoff movie “Ballerina”, “Saw XI”, Keanu Reeves and Aziz Ansari -komedi “Good Fortune” and the Michael Jackson Biopic “Michael.”
While Amazon will not care about exclusivity, the production agreement is a large goat for Lionsgate to increase the films’ footprints and range. For example, Sony films have a streaming window exclusively on Netflix, where even those who flounded at the checkout tend to get a large Netflix boost. In particular, Starz has only 24 million subscribers between the streaming platform and linear cable users, according to Liosnga’s latest revenue. The company is also on the way Spinning of Starz from its larger film and television studio business.
“We know that Prime members love amazing movies, and as a first-stop entertainment destination, we are pleased to bring Lionsgate’s fantastic slate of entertaining movies to Prime Video shortly after their theater edition,” said Brad Beale, Vice President, Worldwide Licensing and Distribution for Prime Video. “The combination of Lionsgate’s films together with the exciting premium entertainment from Amazon MGM Studios and our studio partners ensures that Prime members will always have something convincing to stream, directly on Prime Video.”
“We are very pleased to get to our partners on Amazon early access to progresses of commercially exciting films run by world-class filmmakers and roles,” said Lionsgate President of Global Television Distribution Jim Packer. “This agreement unlocks a significant incremental value for our slate while confirming the great popularity of Lionsgate films among an ever-growing portfolio of buyers.”
