Scary Movie fans have lived well in 2024. There have been some duds too safe, but only in the summer have we been gifted with incredible candy as Osgood Perkin’s five starry LongTilman singer’s Cuckoo and Fede Álvarez’s Alien: Romulus (In theaters this Friday). With that said, I can tell you right now that the best has not yet come, since the audience is only a little over a month away from the publication of the unforgettable, breathtaking and brilliantly fucked movie experience which is The subject.
At present, the filming public is not yet prepared for the wild journey that this movie is-but it can be said that the brand new trailer above offers a delicious taste.
Written and directed by Coralie Fargeat (who previously made critically acclaimed film 2017 Revenge, The subject Star stars Demi Moore As Elisabeth Sparkle, hosting a TV -Aerobics show that is fired by her network’s disgusting, Chauvinian CEO Harvey (Dennis Quaid) on her 50th birthday. Her trust and ego crushed, she is attracted by the exciting promises about a mysterious new medical treatment. With the injection of a special new serum, a “younger, more beautiful, more perfect” version of Elisabeth (literally) and can live a separate life called Sue (Margaret Qualley). They are told that they have to replace weeks that live their respective lives and understand that they are one, but they do not respect the rules and that causes … problems.
The subject Premiere earlier this year in the competition at the Cannes Film Festival (it took home the best script prize) and Demi Moore received great praise for his bold and revealing performance. Following The scary teaser that arrived online earlier this summerThis new trailer gives a more material (no word game intended) look at Upcoming horror movieBut I can promise you that it just barely repair the surface of the madness that this work delivers.
There are some short glimpses at the intense body horror that Coralie Fargeat delivered (look for lots of blood spraying, sharing eyeballs and back stitch), but even doing a RAM-for-frame-frame analysis of this preview will still leave you much to leave Witness and get wowed off when the film arrives. It is disgusting, nightmare and obscene, but also incredibly smart and funny.
So when can you actually see The subject? Set to be distributed by Mubi (who acquired it just before the Cannes premiere), the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 20. It is a title you should highlight in your calendar now, as there is a very good chance that hopefully you will hopefully hear much more about it in the coming months when the price of the price perkolat and critics and film groups will start to reflect on the best films 2024.
