With December in full swing, it’s time to start taking a look upcoming film schedule for 2025and we just got a first look at a particularly exciting thriller coming to them with one Apple TV+ subscription this Valentine’s Day. The first trailer for Scott Derricksonpp Gorge is here and even though it’s a V-Day release, I’m so pleasantly surprised by how romantic Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller’s Hell Gates movie looks. With that, I’m totally on board with this one!
The trailer (above) was revealed right in the middle of Brazil Comic-Con by Anya Taylor-Joy (our favorite modern horror queen) and Miles Teller. Taylor-Joy sports black hair and an accent as he plays Drasa, a fit operative stationed at an ominous watchtower that apparently guards the gorge or the gates of hell. In the meantime, Teller – who signed up for the film back in 2022 — plays Levi, who is on the other side of the gorge and also on guard. Fans may also be excited to see Sigourney Weaver in the trailer as well, as the long-loved genre veteran plays the official who recruits Levi for his assignment.
It is established that Levi is stationed there for a whole year without the possibility to call or communicate with the outside world. He is also “strictly forbidden” to communicate with Drasa, on the other side, as he is tasked with ensuring that nothing comes out of the gorge, which is described as “the door to hell.” But as time goes on the lonely workers begin to reach out to each other and form some kind of bond.
A scene from the trailer sees the characters communicating using signs with messages on them, and it actually reminds me of one of Taylor Swift’s Best Music Videos“You belong to me”! But when Teller’s character tries to zipline to the other side, perhaps to finally meet Taylor-Joy’s character, he falls right into the ravine and she goes after him. Based on this movie, it seems like fans are looking for a scary, horror-filled thriller with a lot of romantic suspense, and I’m so anxious to see how it all plays out.
This upcoming release was written off Tomorrow’s WarIt’s Zach Dean, but I’m especially excited because of the fact that it’s directed by Scott Derrickson. The filmmaker is best known for directing films like The black phone, Doctor Strange and one of best horror movies of all timeThe 2012s Sinister. Derrickson’s passion for horror and unique direction always feels refreshing, so I’m very intrigued to see how he will balance the film’s romance with his love of horror and suspense.
Both Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy have been booked and busy lately, and it’s exciting to see them placed together in a movie. Taylor-Joy is coming off a year that saw her headline the critically acclaimed Furious. Looking ahead, Teller has the Michael Jackson biographywhere he will play lawyer John Branca.
But before that, I’m just excited to see what the two actors come up with Gorge after watching this first trailer. If you feel the same way, get an Apple TV+ membership so you can stream it when it premieres on February 14th.
