We’ve put a lot of focus in recent weeks on looking back at cinema 2024 and reflecting our favorite movies of the yearbut now is also the time to look ahead to what’s coming – and there’s a lot to be excited about. Not just there a number of major movie titles to anticipate coming to the cinema on 2025 movie calendarbut there are many outstanding streaming titles as well – including Happy Gilmore 2which we just got our first look at today.
With today being both Christmas and the first day of Channukah, Adam Sandler has gifted fans everywhere with a special teaser for his highly anticipated sequel to one of his best films. He posted the trailer above on his personal page Chirp page along with the following message:
Happy Chanukah! Merry Christmas! Happy weekend! And happy Gilmore to all!!!!!!
Since this is just a teaser trailer, we don’t get to learn through the footage what Happy Gilmore 2 is about (Adam Sandler has previously made vague references to Happy’s life being a bit messy). And that doesn’t even give us a general release date beyond “2025.” But what it does do is showcase a number of notable faces and make us wonder how they will fit into the story. This includes a couple celebrities, including Travis Kelce as a waiter:
And Bad Bunny as Happy Gilmore’s caddy (but what’s with the bow tie?):
Celebrities were inevitable in Happy Gilmore 2but what really makes this particular teaser trailer stand out is the fact that it gives us our first look at a couple of key returning characters. Again, we don’t know any specific details about the various relationships in the title character’s life when we catch up with him in the new story, but at least he still seems to be on good terms with Julie Bowen’s Virginia Venit (are they still together?) and the photos suggest that Happy and Christopher McDonald’s Shooter McGavin have yet to become friends (but why Happy Gilmore the antagonist showing up in a graveyard wearing blue pajamas is a completely different matter and raises a lot of questions independent of the rest of the film).
Happy Gilmore 2 coming in 2025and like most new Adam Sandler movies these days it will premiere as an exclusive to those with one Netflix subscription. There’s still a lot we don’t know about the upcoming comedy, but we here at CinemaBlend are hungry for new knowledge about the film, so be sure to stay tuned in the coming months for more news and updates on the release.
