Musical success but relationship challenges
It was obvious that it was the right move. The band’s eponymous album from 1975 landed the place # 1 on Billboard 200 -diagram and contained hits such as “Landslide”, “Rhiannon”, “Over My Head” and “Say you love me.”
Afterwards the group began working on their album from 1977 RumorsWho would continue to win this year’s album.
But as their star increased, the relationships between Nicks and Buckingham, McVies and Fleetwood and his wife Jenny Boyd were all crumbling.
“When we joined Fleetwood Mac everything was really rocky between me and Lindsey,” Nicks said in Does not stop documentary. “I think we all made some silent promise: let’s fix these relationships for right now, because we can’t break. We just can’t. If we do, there will be no Fleetwood Mac.”
But the relationships did end. In 1976, McVies divorced while Nicks and Buckingham shared (Fleetwood and Boy would also break later).
And if fans really listen to the track – including Christine’s “Don’t Stop”, “Nicks” Dreams “and Buckinghams” Go Your Own Way ” – they can get a sense of what they went through.
“My songs were about Lindsey, and Lindsey’s songs were about me,” added Nicks, “and you had to blow it off and play the song.”
