As a response to Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension from ABCThe Jon StewartSpecial appearance on the “The Daily Show” was more concluded than explicit. The famous values usually only sit behind the desk on Mondays, but made an exception on Thursday night to lead the entire team in a horrible capitulation to Donald Trump.
On a set that is newly adorned in the manager’s favorite color and sports a Maga Red tie, the “patriotic appropriate values” viewers with (what I just imagine) welcomed some excessive anxiety. “Welcome to ‘The Daily Show’ on – I’ll guess – Monday,” said Stewart. “We have another fun, funny … administration conference.”
From there, Stewart went forward with a regular main story about the president’s visit to Britain, which was framed by constantly Kowtowing to the “perfectly tinted Trump.” Pausing occasionally to scold out his audience to laugh at the wrong time and even hit himself in the head to incorrectly pronounced Armenia as AlbaniaStewart’s extreme submissiveness worked well to highlight how he really felt the latest events and to recognize the very real fear of his audience.
If Trump wants to be a dictator, Stewart will treat him as one – now, before it’s too late.
But for those who wanted the long-term satirist to speak more directly about Kimmels forced removal from late evening, Stewart came into the around 10-minute mark via a clip by a British reporter who asked Trump if free speech is “more under attack in the UK or America.” In Mock Fury, Stewart than recovered what the reporter referred to – from FCC “threatening” subsidiary of these subsidiaries Threatening Disney With an “ultimatum” of his own – all while he “defends” Trump’s interpretation of the first amendment.
“I don’t know who this Johnny Drimmel Live ABC character is,” said Stewart. “But the point is: Our large administration has presented very clear rules on freedom of speech. Now some Naysayers can claim that this administration’s speech problem is just a chynical trick, a thin unruly intoxication, a smoke screen to hide an unsurpassed consolidation of power and unit- free and cold antithetic.
“But not me,” he joked. “I think it’s amazing.”
After taking on the “The Daily Show’s” entire team of correspondents for a literal singing-and-dance (Kudos to Jordan Klepper for meeting the high notes), Stewart spent since the main part of the section ‘”The Nobel’s Peace Prize winning journalist and the writer and the writer and the writer and the writer RESSA was stuck to quoting the similarities between the fall of democracy during Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines, her homeland and what she sees happen here in America. Both she and Stewart wondered about the speed where each of their latest leaders collapsed the institutions intended to maintain a balance of power, including a legislative body that bend the knee and a judiciary that was under attack.

While he didn’t say it himself, this was Stewart’s central message: Now it’s time to act. Now is the time to talk. Now is the time to determine what freedom of speech really means before it is decided for us.
With Kimmel’s fate that still hangs in the balance, it is difficult to think of a better attitude to take. Despite what Trump has said, Kimmel has not been fired, and as of publishing this story, ABC has not provided an update on his suspension. Many comedians on late evenings have come to his defense, as they should, in addition to politicians and other prominent people in entertainment. Although he did not make a sincere foundation or a simple statement, Stewart used his platform to do the same. The time, presentation and format stood out. Now we all have to stand up.
