“Severrance” Don’t be invincible after all.
Near the end of the 77th Emmy Awards, HBO Max’s “Prick” Beat Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller’s Apple TV+ program for outstanding drama series. Lots of forecasters had their money on “Severance”, whose second season debuted in January to Stellar reviews and seemed unbeatable … until “The Pitt”, which premiered at about the same time and began to generate buzz in late winter/spring.
Thewrap’s Steve Pond predicted this much result in one of his last Emmy columns of the season. Why? “Maybe because” Pitt “came late in the period of authority and seemed to arrest real momentum on their way to vote, especially with voters who can embrace the old school (but heated) charm from a medical series,” he wrote. “Statistics clearly say that” severance pay “will win, but this race feels much closer than statistics suggests, so we will predict an upset.”
Created by R. Scott Gemmill, which Exec produces with his colleague “ER” -Alum John Wells and serial star Noah Wyle, “The Pitt” found a receptive audience for their first season directly. It continued to grow week after week, on average 10 million viewers Per each of its 15 sections. The show, produced by John Wells Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television, also debuted as one of the five most watching Max Original Series premieres ever.
“The Pitt” develops in real time during an astonishing 15-hour shift in an underfunded and stemat Pittsburgh hospital, and stars Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Rabinovitch, a senior participating in ER doctor. The actor and the EP have explained that the driving force for the show was to highlight the foremost workers who risked their lives daily during the pandemic. For its part, the medical community gave “Pitt” its stamp of approval and praised its realism and accuracy.
The success of “The Pitt” has led to a variety of reports of the prestige state and a potential fluctuation back to more storytelling in network style (such as “er”) which was once the backbone in the industry.

In addition to outstanding drama series, “The Pitt” also won outstanding principal actor in a drama series (Noah Wyle), outstanding support actress in a drama series (Katherine Lanasa), outstanding guest actor in a drama series (Shawn Hatosy) and outstanding casting for a drama series. “Severance”, also won a leadership, a support distribution and a guest actor for Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman and Merritt Wever, and held the night exciting to the end.
Last year came the big outrage in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, where HBO Max’s “Hacks” overcame FX’s “The Bear.” At the same time, the strongly favored drama Frontrunner, FX’s “shōgun”, went away with the top price, one of one Record setting 18 It took home for its first season.
