“My mother was a counselor there, but also so many of my friends were raised in this camp,” Jenna said at TodayThe July 7. “Texas camp are institutions, which you just heard, where many family members – generations – this camp were 100 years old. Grandma, mothers, children have all gone there.”
Jenna, who shared that many of her friends and their children were there last week, praised society for meeting in the middle of the tragedy.
“The stories I heard in the last couple of days were beautiful and heartbreaking,” she said. “Texas has a type of resilience where they are generous people, where people want to reach out and help.”
“Texas camps are really special because you think about 90-degree weather, no air conditioning,” 43-year-old-which participated in the nearby camp Longhorn during her childhood-declared. “My children are at the camp in Texas, and my husband said:” Why do we send our children to Texas, to the camp? It’s hot! “And it is because of the love that is there.”
