Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers praised the celebrities who could not participate in the Las Culturista Culture Awards last month, urged several A -listers and shared excuse videos from any “Saturday Night Live” -Alum.
“Well, tonight has been a beautiful celebration of culture,” Yang said. “We can’t forget the ones we love that have gone.”
“Did not pass away, but continued to be here tonight,” Rogers chimped in to clear up some confusion.
“Because they had others – t to do,” Yang said.
“So now, with a musical tribute, we remember our friends who wanted to be here but not bad enough. This is …” Rogers said, before Pair said in harmony, “in the absence.”
The two broke out in the song and perform Aerosmith’s “I don’t want to miss anything.”
When they sang, pictures of several artists and entertainment figures arose on the screen for the awards ceremony, including Billie Eilish, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga and Yang’s “Wicked” co -stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
In addition to their photos, captions appeared below that the detailed reasons why invited people could not participate.
According to the comedians, Eilish “would not make dress code”, Kelly Clarkson could not come because Rogers was “too thirsty”, Sabrina Carpenter is a “busy woman” and Michelle Obama was “too good for this” was among the causes.
Between the list, Will Ferrell shared a video message with the couple and apologizes for his lack of presence. “I have a good reason because I’m in Mallorca,” said “Saturday Night Live” legend while I sported a speedo.
Troye Sivan and Kaia Gerber also sent their apologies in the form of a video message, both of which said they were on vacation.
Some other “SNL” -Alum did Komos via the tribute mount, including Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who picture texts read that they failed to understand the instructions for the video.
Towards the end of his song, singer writer Lucy Dacus entered the stage and joined the couple to sing while more celebrities videos and pictures showed on the screen.
“Hi Matt, Hi Bowen, sorry I can’t be there,” Brandi Carlley said. “I take a pregnancy test.”
“Bowen, you bitch!” Anne Hathaway said in a clip. “I’m not over it; that’s why I’m not there!”
The fourth annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards, Yang and Rogers’ Parody Awards show took place at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. It was broadcast on Bravo on Tuesday after it was recorded on July 17. While many people did not show up for the event, several stars took up the room, including Keenan Thompson, Reneé Rapp, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kristen Wiig.
