Netflix picked up the movieWho debuted in Cannes ‘Critics’ Week episode, at the festival, and IndieWire can today announce that Streamer will strengthen the film with both a theater edition (on Friday, November 14) and a streaming edition on its platform (on Friday 28 November). The film is in battle as Taiwan’s national selection for Oscars and has global distribution. You can also see three new still images, exclusive for Indieview, both up and below.
The film is Tsou’s debutsolo director excursion, but she has been a pillars in Indiekiom for decades. A long partner for the famous filmmaker (and now multi-Oscar-winning filmmakers) Sean BakerTsou produced Baker’s films “Starlet”, “Florida project“And”Mandarin. “The duo also collaborated, wrote and produced in 2004 Gem” Take Out. ”
And their collaboration continues with “left -wing girl”, which Tsou and Baker wrote together (and which Baker also edited). On Cannes, Tsou told IndieWire How her experience with two decades working with Baker prepared her to direct a movie set in her hometown: “I have learned so much to work with Sean, because everything in his films is practical. I did a lot of things on set, from learning the research process to talking to people from society. We tried to tell the story as possible.”
For Tsou, who has not been directed for over 20 years, the experience of making the film has been long in works and very long desired. “For” left -handed girl “I had the idea since I was very young. The first time I brought it to Sean, he thought it was really interesting,” she said. “So we started writing the draft together. After every other movie we quit, we would always come back to this movie. Unfortunately, the time (to do it) wasn’t right. It took a while to gather the financing to get people interested.
