The sequel to 2019’s “ne zha”, “ne zha 2” is based on the eponymous deity from Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religion tradition. Inspired by the 16th century novel “Investiture of the Gods”, the two films focus on the young ne zha, a boy born as the reincarnation of an ancient demon orb. Disgusted and feared by the people in his hometown, the boy tries to undermine a prophecy that predicts his provenance to evil and proves himself a hero. The second film follows Ne Zha, reborn after losing his physical body after the events in the first film, when he goes on a quest to conduct three attempts needed to become an immortal and save his city and family during the process.
Together with the trailer, A24 also announced several members of the voice crew and joined Originally announced Michelle Yeohwho plays Ne Zha’s Mother Lady Yin. Vincent Rodriguez III, Aleks Le, Damien Haas and Crystal Lee also play in the English DUB.
Written and directed by Yang Yu (also credited as Jiaozi), was the first “ne zha” extremely successful when he was released and collected over $ 700 million.
