Cristin Milioti is no new face on television.
Whether she caught your eye in “Black Mirror”, “How I Met Your Mother”, far back on “The Sopranos” in her first TV Roll, or under the killer “30 Rock” competence, her work always stands out in already impressive projects, right down to her Emmy -nominated turn in “Penguin. “
Milioti’s performance Got her a nomination for outstanding principal actress in a limited series or film, along with Cate Blanchett for “Resistance”, Michelle Williams for “Dying for Sex”, Rashida Jones for “Black Mirror” and Meghann Fahy for “Sirens.” On the heels of Tuesday’s nomination message, the IndieWire captured the artist known as Sofia Falcone (it is gigante now!) About the recognition, visited the character and fit back to “Black Mirror” season 7.
The following interview has been edited and condensed for length and clarity.
Indiewire: We talked to you in December About “The Penguin”, and it’s hard for a show to keep that kind of speed on the new year and then for an Emmy season. What was your reaction to being nominated?
Cristin Milioti: I was very, very moved and overwhelmed and grateful. I am so proud of our show and the amount of nominations we got, and for our incredible crew, my incredible co -crew. It’s been really, really exciting. And then at the top of it, to see “Black Mirror” also be recognized – I’m really proud of today!
You have so far received significant recognition for this role. I can’t imagine it ever getting old. But what is it like for this to move on in the process? It has now been a year since you are marketing the first season.
It is so nice, because so often you do things that you love and they disappear or no one sees them, or they do not turn out the way you want. And this was something that I really loved to do, and being able to continue the conversation if it is really incredible, because it only happens so rarely.
And you mentioned “Black Mirror.” What is it like to come back with that series for “USS Callister: Into Infinity”? Not many may return to that show.
No, we are the first! It’s amazing. I don’t know if you have interviewed Charlie (Brooker) at all, or our director Toby (Haynes) or any of the actors, but it is an incredible group of people, and such a legendary show to be a part of. It was very, very cool.
What was it like after having something like “Penguin” under your belt?
Part of it was tripy. It is only by putting on old suits and being back on a set you were on, like the exact copy of one from seven years before. It feels like a kind of live-action deja vu, a little, and it really makes you think about what you have done and “what is time?” And all this. But it was also really, really good, because it felt like picking up where we quit. We were back to making the same type of joke and making the same kind of pieces.

What felt the most different this time?
God. Do you know, what felt most different? I might regret that I said this. I feel that I felt that during the seven years that have passed, when we were done I was so exhausted. I was like, oh, yes, right. This is a slightly different body than that seven years ago that could take endless tumblers and thrown around. This one, I really needed to lie down afterwards-if I did “Black Mirror” right after “Penguin”, so I think it might be one-two-stand of both of these things back-to-back. And then I really just had to take one knee for a second.
Yes, I remember that you mentioned how physical “penguin” was and that you is inserted your body between the scenes.
And “Black Mirror” was too. Especially in the type of black marine equipment we wear, they are so heavy, and we ran around in the heat, but I really love physical jobs. Anyway, then I had to take a break, and it was fantastic.
You may also share this nomination in this category with Rashida Jones for “Black Mirror.” It is a very interesting category, and it is fun when it is actually exciting, to be quite sincere.
It is very exciting. It’s a large group of women.
Can you tell us something about season 2 or “The Batman 2” now that the script is done. Has anyone reached for you?
No one has been out. I say the same thing when I am asked about this, which is really true, which is that I would not love anything more. It remains to be absolutely true that I would really love to go through her and visit that world, because I had such a blast.
The last time we talked you talked about wanting to go through theater. Is there a presentation we can start?
I’m trying! I’m out here actively and really looks to get back on stage. I just saw “Sunset Boulevard” the other night for the second time, and I looked at it, and I was so in reverence and just felt itching again.
If there is something that will make you just want to work, it is “Sunset Boulevard.”
My God. What a fantastic show.

What do you think about when we go into the last few months by opening this show in the world?
I haven’t done it before, so I’m a little down for the trip. These things can be so strange, and yet what I love is that I get reunited with Lauren (Lefranc) and Colin (Farrell) and Didi (Deirdre O’Connell) and Helen (Shaver), and then I really hope we see each other a bunch in the coming pairs of weeks and lift a pair of glasses.
What are some of the other show that you have checked out and are excited for at Emmys Circuit?
Obviously “White Lotus”, so fantastic. I love Kathy Bates and Keri Russell and am really rooting for Kathy. It is so wonderful to see all these people whose work I admire and who I like as much as people, so I look forward to more of it.
I know Awards is not the point of any of this. You are such an amazing artist. I have been looking at your work for several years, but it is cool to just see this specific type of praise happen at once.
It has been a really fun ride, and I feel very grateful. It has been intense and wonderful and meaningful. Certainly lovely glaze on the cake, because for your point it is not about this, but of course it feels so nice to be recognized and amazing. I actually just love being in these rooms and meeting the people whose work I love. It’s been the best.
Do you look at the rest of the nominations and all these amazing shows, all the dream employees there?
I mean, I loved the “studio.” And do you know who is here? Brian Tyree Henry is one of my favorite actors, and I would love to work with him. He is astonishing.
“Penguin” is now flowing at HBO Max. The 77th annual Emmy Awards will be broadcast on September 14 at CBS.
