Jennifer Aniston will expand their apple TV+ Empire with an adaptation of Jennette McCurdyMemoir “I’m glad my mom died.”
Aniston, currently on Apple TV+ with “The Morning Show”, will start in and executive produce a 10 episode series inspired by the memoirs, with McCurdy as Co-Showrunner.
Former Nickelodeon Child actress McCurdy played in “Sam and cat” opposite Ariana Grande, as well as “Icarly”, among other series. Her 2022 book became a best seller and detailed the abuse that she endured in the hands of her mother, Debbie, who died in 2013 of cancer. McCurdy also stated that a Nickelodeon “Creator” (believed to be Dan Schneideras later was in the middle of Docusa series “quiet on set”) often delivered children with alcohol and requested massage from children’s actors. McCurdy claimed that she was offered $ 300,000 in “Hush Money” so as not to arrive at the abuse; She rejected the payment.
Apple TV+ adaptation comes from one who is who of acclaimed creators: together with McCurdy, Ari Katcher (“Ramy,” “Jerrod Carmichael Reality show”) will also show, write and executive products. Sharon Horgan’s (“Bad Sisters”) Merman Banner, Margot Robbies Luckychap Productions, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay will also produce products.
McCurdy told me earlier Vanity In 2022, she hopes to change how the press and the public perceive children’s stars. “There is such a gross fascination and deep intrigue in children’s stars and the development of their careers and personal lives,” she said. “I don’t know what it is, but I wish I could ask everyone on the outside,” What happens here? Is all ok? Why are everyone obsessed with children’s stars? Does everyone need some therapy? “Yes, is the answer.”
When it comes to the controversial title of her book (and now the series), McCurdy added, “I stand by the title and I believe in it. It was a tough thing for me to deal with. And the things that are difficult to deal with are often the things that have to be said most.”
Aniston’s “The Morning Show” returns to Apple TV+ with Season 4 on September 17.
