Hilary Swank refused to take a piece of “Cobra Kai. “The Oscar-winning actress chose not to entertain the idea of returning to her roots with a como in the Netflix series.
Josh Heald, who co -created the “Cobra Kai” series with Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, told Entertainment every week that they were approaching the weak about repising her role as Julie Pierce in sixth and last season. “We handed out during the very early days before the season to see if there was a road (for her to show up),” Heald said. “We had a clue about an idea of how she could get into this story and not have to connect us to ten episodes or anything.”
While the “Cobra Kai” team would tell Swank “the beginning of an emergence of an idea”, they did not get the chance to have a meeting with the actress. “She didn’t want us to go through the trouble of flying out to her and putting our heart on her sleeve, because it was just not something she was ready to do at that moment,” Heald said. “At her end it was very respectful, but we never got the opportunity to sit down and pour our heart as we usually do when we take back characters from the inheritance.”
He added that Swank “was only in a place where she didn’t want to do it”, and she gave them “a respectful pass on the idea of even a meeting.”
Heald admitted, “For us it was a bit disappointing because we like to get everyone, but at the same time we did not sacrifice any huge history that we had fully developed. It is more fruit on the vine because if we can visit this universe in the future.”
“Cobra Kai” stars Ralph Macchio in its original role. The “Karate Kid: Legends” feature, which is yet another continuation of the franchise, will also get back Macchio and Jackie Chan.
Swank is not the only Oscar winner who chose not to revive an earlier teenage role: Jodie Foster said no to Make a como in “Freakier Friday.” Foster played in the original movie “Freaky Friday”, which was later reworked with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan 2003.
