Duffy spent eight years as Ashland County district lawyer in his home state Wisconsin before serving in Congress from 2011 to 2019. He resigned from the office in August, with reference to his still born ninth child’s health problems.
“After she was born, whether it is two to six months after life, she will need open heart surgery,” he explained on Fox & Friends. “They have to crack her and fix the heart.”
Duffy added, “I love politics, but I love my family, and I think it’s always a balance. Schedule is astonishing. I’m out in DC four days a week and then I’m back with Rachel.” As he travels around his district meeting people, he said, “We get a bit beaten as members of Congress. We are a favorite punch bag.”
On The real world“I was forced to live with people who were so different from me,” he told Ncta In May 2019. “When I first got there, I saw the strong differences I had with my roommates. But when I left I realized that I had much more in common with them than I ever imagined.”
He compared the experience with crossing the hallway in Congress: “It is fantastic what kind of legislation you can work with together and how many points you actually have.”
